best country to retire

I am a New Zealand citizen but have supperannuation in Australia. How can I withdraw this?

I have been told because I am a citizen of NZ I cannot withdraw my Australian superannuation until I retire at 65 even though I do not live in Australia. Does anone know how I can withdraw it or know of any company that may beable to assist.

  1. you might (might) be able to transfer it to a superannuation or kiwisaver fund in New Zealand. There are generally restrictions and you often can't just get it out in cash. Depends on your provider i would imagine.
  2. FIRSTLY, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PENALTIES MIGHT BE IF THE ATO FOUND OUT YOU DID THIS, BUT....... One way to get you money could be to form your own Superfund and have the superfund invest in a company that you own. Now the money is sitting in the bank account of the company which you own. Yes, this breaks a number of the superannuation rules. But you don't care, you're a Kiwi, and it's only a bunch of Aussies holding onto your money.
