How do I find work in the country of Belize(Central America)?
I am 42 and plan on moving to Belize. I have done many careers and want to retire eventually in Belize.

- look on the Internet yahoo search for jobs in the specific area
- Currently, Land is going for cheap in belize. DIRT CHEAP. So really the best career to have in belize is owning something. Anything really. You can buy land, and build on it for less than 50,000. You could build a resort or something, and make you're money back in no time. Then you'd be set to retire there.
- visit Belize to see if you like it then look for job which you have qualification
- What an exciting move to plan! Like most countries Belize has many career sites, easily found and browsed through by using Google and searching for "Belize Job Search". Some I came up with are: www.belizecareers.com - it's free but you're required to create an account www.http://bz.3wjobs.com/ http://www.belizeclassifieds.com/ For more interesting facts that con help you with your move, there's http://www.escapeartist.com/e_Books/Belize2/Live_In_Belize.html It's a E'Book and covers everything from safety to cost of living to building your own home to operating a business in Belize. Good luck!
- The Consul General of Belize, the best office to enquire about jobs and business affairs, can be reached at: belizeconsul@earthlink.net Phone: 1-323 469-7343 Fax: 1-213-469-7346 Good luck!
- I lived in Belize for a few months in 2003. I was a free-lance sailor at the time and we stayed at Moho Caye (pronounce KEY), the ppl that were running the marina (Linda and Russ) had retired and sold their deli in FL and bought an RV to travel thru central America. Anyway, I talked to them quite a few times abt how they got there and basically in Belize you are encouraged to stay and build a business if you are an American retiree, but you MUST have money to put in the bank of Belize and it also helps a great deal to have an income from the states, like SSI or retirement payments. There are quite a few beautiful resorts there already (my friend was an insurance adjuster for F&G insurance and I got to go visit all of the resorts they insured for free!). Belize City is a cool place to visit but try to be careful, there is a lot of violence in the area. I would watch the local news at Chef Bob's (great place to go and eat) and there wasn't a day that went by that there wasn't a murder or serious crime. I am not saying it is a bad country, please don't get me wrong. I loved the ppl I met and had a great stay. But there are some very violent elements, it may have been more harsh to me because ppl don't get shot there, they get macheted. The crime rate may not be even as high as New Orleans (I lived THERE too!). Belmopan is the capital and it was beautiful. Peaceful and clean. There are more ppl in Belize City but Belmopan is where I would live if I moved there. It is a very well-laid out city. Anyway, leave me a message on my 360 page if you want more info. I loved Belize! As a matter of fact if the Real ID becomes a reality I plan on going back to sailing or at least go travelling in the less facist places once the USA (which I am TOTALLY PATRIOTIC about, but I want to protect my daughter from technological slavery) turns into a police state. Hope I don't sound like too much of a fruitloop! Good Luck!
