  1. Try www.fodors.com from what I heard not the safest place to go
  2. as i read from the internet, although belize has very little population and territory they are one among the list of highest crime rate in the world. i just forgot the site where i saw it but its your discretion.
  3. A gentleman by the name of Lan Sluder writes all the time about moving to Belize. His books are on Amazon and other sites. Medical care is decent although many Americans have insurance that allows them to be airlifted to the U.S. if something serious happens. This is common in most latin countries. Insurance for the car is much the same as the U.S. American Airlines, Continental, and U.S. Airways all have connecting flights to Belize City. As for cheapest hotels, it goes from dumps at $10 a night to luxury resorts at hundreds of dollars a night. Also depends where you want to stay. Nice places can be had in most parts of the country for $25-$40 a night.
  4. Crime is mostly in Belize City. I have felt very safe everywhere I have been in the country. I have talked to many people including single women that are from US and retired there. I would not recommend retiring in Belize City. Try Placencia area, Corozal, or the cayes. TACA and Continental have great air from Calif.
