  1. I would suggest you try Iloilo City on the Island of Panay (2.5 hours to Boracay by Bus), 3 golf courses, plenty of bars, nice resturants and all the conviences of the major city's in a smaller one. Bacolod City on the Island of Negos is nice. 2 golf courses and plenty of night life and evan a casino and cockfighting arenas. Iloilo and Guimeras have nicer beaches than Bacolod. The island of Guimeras has nice beaches and resorts but little else. It's only a 10 min pumpboat ferry ride from Iloilo City. Feel free to e mail me or chat on yahoo messenger if you'd like to know more. I'm an Retired American Married to a native from Iloilo City and we have many relatives in Bacolod and I know both cities well after living here the past 4 years. Paul in Iloilo
  2. Laguna. It's a suburban. If you want a citylife out of trafiic and pollution, then Laguna is best. Laguna has also some golf course, and other tourist spots such as the Splash Island, Enchanted Kingdom, Laguna Lake, Pagsanjan Falls, and others. Laguna is also near to Manila, around 1 to 2hrs drive to Manila, which is the Capital of the Philippines.

  5. I'd recommend Cebu, best city for me to live in next to Manila
  6. Puerto Galera, that's where all the retired expats live. Countless bars right along the beach. Some also retire in Olongapo but considering that you're british, you might not appreciate all the Americans there.
  7. If you like island living, you would want to consider Boracay. It's very similar to the scene in Pattaya. The island has a wide array of excellent bars and restaurants but it only has one golf course. A lot of foreign nationals have opted to live there and opened establishments. Thus, you get all sorts of authentic cuisines (French, Greek, Italian etc). Some people from New York put up a bar so you get music and vibe that is so very NYC. There are also places that cater to reggae, world music etc Communicating is not a problem either because most Filipinos speak English quite well. The beach is pristine with powdery soft and white sand while the water is turquoise. I've been to the beaches in Thailand (Pattaya, Phuket, Krabi) and I can safely say that they are nothing compared to Boracay. You'll love it.
  8. Very best place try Visayas Area
