We are going to Thailand in November. Planning to travel to Hua Hin and Krabi.?

What transportation: plane,a car, a train to these places? Which hotel or place to rent at reasonable price close to the beach? What places the young retired people live? Any info would be appreciated.

1. I would suggest you stay a couple of nights in Bangkok to familiarize yourselves. If you stay near kao san road (thanon kao san) you will find lots of travel agents who will arrange train or bus for you. Kao San can be a bit noisy but there are quieter places behind the temple. I think train might be best to Hua Hin Krabi is a lot further south and I don't think theres a train, I think about 8-10 hrs on bus. If driving be very careful they drive on the left and if you have an accident its your fault because you,re a foreigner. You will find lots of Hotels to choose from in Hua Hin travel agents will probably be able to advise on this as well.
2. bus will be your best option,presuming you are entering thailand through Bangkok.It's not far to Hua Hin from BKK.Krabi is much further south and is quite a long bus trip,so I'd prefer to fly down,but if you're in Hua Hin that will mean bussing back to BKK,so really it depends on your timetable Most younger retirees live in the tourist areas,places like Hua Hin and Krabi,where condos are more likely(foreigners can buy condos) Other ex-pats live in the real thailand away from the beach and bars Wherever you go public transport is safe,reliable and cheap throughout the kingdom
