  1. You can apply for permanent residency in Thailand, but you have to demonstrate that you have a minimum amount of funds available - I've got a feeling 36,000 TB/month between the two of you won't be enough. Best to consult a specialist lawyer in BKK.
  2. See thaivisa.com. Updated daily, covers everything you will need to know legally, day to day life, etc. and you will be able to stay abreast of all changes from now till the time you retire.
  3. first off your wife would have no problem as long as she decides to live here as a Thai citizen, she needs to have a Thai passport and Thai id card. as for you that's another issue, you need to read the regulations for the type of visa that is best for you. a retirement visa is the first thing I think of, but your income has to be 65,000 baht a month, or you need to be able to transfer funds into the country and maintain a bank account with 800,000 baht and extended your visa every year, then again you wife can come with you on your retirement visa as an Australian. Another option is for a visa as support for a Thai person. i don't know much about that, but you should go to the web site for the Thai embassy in your area. the link is below surf it and see what is best for you. but i must tell you your income is not very much to live here as Australians.
  4. When you get back to TH let your wife show her Thai ID and don't mention her AUS passport, it makes things much easier as it's only one of you to apply for a retirement visa, maybe you can more easily apply for a social visa as you are married to a Thai citizen, you may want to contact Mr. DarrenMcGarry from Key Visa Co Ltd. they are the advisers of the Pattaya City Expat Club in all matters of Visa and are in direct contact with the Thai Immigration office in pattya which holds the largest retired expat community in TH. mail to:keyvisa1@gmail.com or keyvisa2@gmail.com We stay in Thailand already for 10 years great place.
