  1. Panama was high on my list. Take a look at the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Ecuador. Very similar with different advantages. Here are some websites I keep up with... http://boquete.org/ http://www.boquete-bajareque-times.com/ http://www.panama-guide.com/article....70108185503800 Happy reading:)
  2. Well I live in Panama, and part of my business is relocation, so I believe I can speak well about Panama. You have an advantage if you're retired. It doesn't matter if you have a private or a public pension, you can get a "Turista Pensionado" status (Pensioned Tourist) that allows you a permanent residence in the Republic of Panama. It also gives you certain tax benefits, and it allows you to import a car duty free every 2 years. Depending on the type of retirement you're looking for Panama has different options. There's Panama City if you just can't stay away from the city life, or if you want to be close to the best healthcare centers in the country. Panama City also has different options. You can purchase a condo with an ocean view or a city view. You can also consider the former US Military bases, where there are a lot of green areas, and purchase a new house, or you can purchase an existing house and renovate it, as almost have done. Also you could consider Cerro Azul, which is a hill that's about an hour's drive from Panama City, that although it's a bit solitary, the weather is more temperate, so you don't have to deal with the heat and humidity of Panama City. The favorite place baby boomers are retiring in Panama is Boquete. It's a nice small town with temperate weather in the Chiriqui Highlands. There are a lot of new developments, so if you come for your fact finding tour it's a must. There is a growing community of US expats that have retired there, so you can get around with ease. There's also the beaches, and with that you have to choose either the Caribbean or the Pacific. The Pacific Beaches have more infrastructure than the Caribbean Beaches, but in my opinion the Caribbean is more beautiful, and the tides are more forgiving than in the Pacific. There are a lot of developments so there's a lot to choose from. Some are ready, some will be ready soon, and some are just picking up, so depending on your time schedule you can choose a project. If you want go and check our website to see if we can help you with you relocation to Panama. Hope you have a nice time here.
