best country to retire

What is the maximum age to get Health Insurance in Panama? What if I have Diabetes?

My uncle who is a retired policeman from Oregon is retiring to Chiriqui. He is 57 and has diabetes and his policy from work does not cover him after retirement. Does anybody have advise on how to get him a policy?

  1. The maximum age to get health insurance is usually about 60-70. Insurance companies in Panama exclude pre-existing conditions or will charge a higher premium for pre-existing conditions if the insurance company decides to take the risk. There is one Colombian company that insures people of all ages and with pre -existing conditions. I have insured several people with diabetes in this company. Unfortunately it is not possible for his US policy to cover him in Panama. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield here, but you can't transfer the coverage.
