best country to retire

I want to leave the country and retire with as little money as possible. Where do i go to live a decent life?

I am not in trouble with the law. Just tired of all the BS and want to escape. For now I want to just be able to relaxe and enjoy life for as little money as possible. But In the future I may want to work with tourist or open a small business outside the US.

  1. Try south america. I suggest Argentina
  2. I know what you are feeling, but I am staying in the US :P
  3. Costa Rica, maybe? But the political situation there leaves something to be desired. a lot of retired US military there.
  4. MEXICO
  5. Cuba.Everyone there is on a budget.
  6. yes, south america is close, similar language style, cheap.
  7. i would say mexico, would give you the best bang for your buck. but, with there poverty and anti american sentiment , go to aculpulco or some other near resort area. or just move to one of the 7 mexican u.s states. good luck.
  8. I've been thinking the same lately. Checkout escapeartist.com for some interesting reading about anywhere you might be considering, and even a few places you may not have considered yet. Happy hunting.
  9. Ireland i live there it's full of opporatuniny and Irelands is a buetiful country. and its very cheap. and most of the population are nice people
  10. The last sentence stumped me.
  11. Please take me with you when you find somewhere else to live. You won't be sorry!!! :] xoxo LOL!!!!
  12. I'd definitely not go with Mexico. You obviously don't want to go to Mexico, but Mexico *is* getting more expensive, primarily because of... the... influx... of... people... retiring... there. Anywho, most of the central American countries would probably do you good, or some of the South American ones like Venezuela or maybe Ecuador. You never hear anything bad about Ecuador. The problem is that many of the countries that would be cheap for an American to retire to have problems with things like crime and very oppressive Governments. But I'm sure just about anything is possible... with the right amount of cash. I'd personally recomment buying a home wherever you go, rather than renting, because home values almost always increase. Best of luck. I'd like to retire to a foreign country too, but I'm not sure if my wife will go for it. She isn't very receptive to the idea. Oh well, I could always leave her behind and visit her at Christmas and on her Birthday!
  13. This is an easy one. You can live like a king in Vietnam. You can retire and never work again for under a quarter mill. The banks here pay 10% interest. You can buy a house for under $30,000. A really nice house. Put the $250 in several banks in a couple of different countries. The $2000 a month that you will make in interest will be more than enough to eat every meal at a good restaurant, join the beach club, have as many drinks as you want to have every day and travel when you wish to. I know this for a fact. I am doing it myself. And love the life. I am living in Hoian Vietnam, a small river village in the middle of the coast line. The beach is white sands and 40 k's long. Beautiful. if you don't freak out and give your money to some bar girl you can live very well for the rest of your life and never work a day. If you want any more info let me know. There are negatives as there are any where in the world but they are not enough to have kept me from retiring here. good luck and have a pleasant retirement. PS: You can do it on a lot less money that the $250 and with a little more it just gets better and better.
  14. Spain! It is very relaxing and cheap. Or Sydney! Where do you live?
  15. Wherever you go - you will miss the USA with all it's fault, this is still the greatest country to live. Good luck with your quest.
  16. try living in the PHILIPPINES.. there are a lot of foreigners who retire here...
  17. Mexico West Africa
  18. Philippines. Reasons: Great and friendly people, diversed culture, low cost of living, lots of great places.
  19. Man, you are dreaming! What are you gonna do if you become ill? Oh, I get it, You've been watching the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" and think that's the life for you, am I right? That's a farce. Come back down to earth, my man and get real. Money is the universal language and its a necessity for survival. Next ?
