How safe is it to retire in Mexico?

1. Very safe if you want to work in the US and take your earnings to Mexico. The US dollar value can take you further in Mexico than your SSI will here in the US. You can even build homes and just rent them out it costs about $20,000 US dollars to build a home in Mexico.
2. Depends on where. Just like the USA, it's location, location,location. I wouldn't go anywhere near Mexico city, but the resort areas are cool.
3. Different health mmunities. In the end you will have to retire in an American ex-patriate community of malcontents. Pick your poison.
4. It' safe. But depends much where you go. I recommend Los Cabos. It's really safe and you will find what you are looking for. Good Weather, People like you, Golf, Beaches, 5 Star Resorts etc. and you dollar will have more value.
5. depends where you go, a nice upperclass neighborhood with private security, near the police station is obviously better than downtown in mexico city. Same anywhere. Also depends on your persona and attitude where ever you go.
